This long-out-of-print self-pubbed book was the first collection of T.R.&Co. comic strips. Originally put out in 1982, the digest-size booklet (51/2"x81/2") with its blue card stock cover and black and white interior, was a mixture of random cartoons about everything from comic books and video games to Star Wars and Star Trek.
It introduced the strips four main characters: T.R., Joe, Buttons, and Hank the comic dealer. It also had strips with two characters (a fan named Blok, and T.R.'s little brother--who I even forgot about till I looked back at the old strips) who were never to be seen or heard of again. **(Blok is in the very first actual T.R. strip which was inside the front cover.)
T.R.&Co. #1 had 8 black and white interior pages of cartoons, and the inside front and back covers, as well as the back cover itself, also had one cartoon each on them--bringing the total to 30 toons. I decided to publish a expanded reprint edition 10 years later in 1992, which had 16 interior pages (the same cover, except with a #1 in a small word balloon in the upper right-hand corner) and a total number of cartoons, counting the back cover, of 29.
But, it also had, in addition to cartoons, 2 pages with "filk songs", and one long comic strip in the center which took up 3 pages by itself. That center comic was originally published in the first edition of T.R.&Co. #2 (pubbed in 1989) but when a problem with its print run forced a format change, it was put back in the files until it made it into this book. This time, instead of a cartoon, the inside front cover had the character bios, and inside the back cover was a sales ad for the 3 TR comic collections out at that time.
Although the cover pictured to the left is from the original 1982 print run, the cartoons presented here are from the 1992 reprint. Also included is the very first strip with the Blok character, even though it was dropped from that second edition. (**All comic strips with a asterisk *
next to them are from the 1982 book-- it's interesting to see the differences in the characters 10 years apart.) Thanks, and Enjoy!!
